While it is a fact that buying used furniture for sale in Abu Dhabi is in the best interests of expats coming into the city, many (because they have just moved into the city and are unfamiliar with locations around the city) do not have an idea where exactly to look for used furniture for sale in Abu Dhabi. If you are one among thousands of expatriates in Abu Dhabi and are looking for a place to buy used furniture, here is a short but definite guide for you containing the do’s and don’ts of buying used furniture in Abu Dhabi.

Do look for signs of infestation:

Termite or insect infestation is one of the main problems associated with used furniture shopping. Be very careful of this particular issue because if you buy and bring insect infected furniture into your home chances are that these insects will spread into the rest of the furniture in your home. Not only furniture, but everything made of wood, including doors, cabinets, window sills, everything will be at risk.

Do look for furniture that is durable:

As you make your purchase decision, make sure to watch out for wood quality that is durable and reliable. If you can buy hardwood furniture such as that made of mahogany and pinewood as it can stand the test of time.

Do look for online bargain deals:

Being a newbie into the city for furniture shopping, it would be a better option if you buy and sell online. This would save you from the hassle of going out to retailers and used furniture dealers who would surely charge you a lot more than you would have to pay for the same type of furniture online.

Do not buy furniture without trying it out first:

It is a cardinal sin to buy furniture that you have not tried out before. As you get into connection with used furniture seller, make sure you arrange a meeting and try out the furniture yourself by sitting on it, in case it is a bed or sofa or opening all the cabinets and doors of cupboard in case it is a locker etc. This will ensure you do not end up buying furniture with unexplained problems.

Do not arrange to meet the seller alone or in a secluded place:

As you arrange to meet the used furniture seller, make sure you meet him/her during day time. If you have to go to seller’s home to inspect the furniture take a minimal of 2-3 people with you. Never, ever go to a stranger’s house alone for the purpose of buying or selling a good or service, no matter how polite, innocent or civil the person may sound during the initial conversation. Make sure to go inside the house with at least one person and that there are 2 people looking out for you people on the outside.
